“EXCUSE ME”: Ella Langley Celebrates One Year of Viral Riley Green Duet

On June 21, 2024, Ella Langley and Riley Green released a cheeky duet that is still fueling dating rumors to this day. “You Look Like You Love Me” collected multiple accolades from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association, including Musical Event of the Year. It also catapulted Langley into the national spotlight as she gathered more trophies than any other artist at last month’s ACM Awards. Exactly one year after the song that helped make her, the New Female Artist of the Year took some time to reflect.

“The last 365 days have been the craziest time of my life, and it all started with a song me and Aaron Ratiere wrote as a joke,” said Langley, 26, in an Instagram post Saturday (June 21.) “Thank you to everyone who has loved this song the way we have. Thank you to [Riley Green] who came and made the song what it needed to be, thank you to country radio for my first number one. This song changed my life. EXCUSE ME!!!!”

Riley Green and Ella Langley Still Aren’t Beating the Relationship Allegations

On Instagram, Riley Green responded to Ella Langley’s post with a simple flexed bicep emoji. Naturally, some fans took that opportunity to advocate for a romantic relationship between the two. “drop that ego bruh and ask her out on a proper date,” one Instagram user wrote.

Green has waved away those rumors, once saying, “Yeah, I mean, Ella’s probably too smart to date me anyway.”

Langley has also denied any romantic link to her “Don’t Mind If I Do” collaborator.

How “You Look Like You Love Me” Came to Be

So just how exactly did we end up with one of summer 2024’s hottest songs? Riley Green has said his smash hit with Ella Langley happened the only way such songs can: “out on the road, out on tour, just really organically.”

“I heard the song, and I think she kinda thought maybe it would be a good collaboration with somebody, so I wrote a second verse for it,” Green told Holler last year. “It’s just a really fun song. She does a great job with it, and it’s definitely something that I’m sure we’ll be doing together.”
