Former Devil Wears Prada Drummer Daniel Williams Died in San Diego Plane Crash With Dave Shapiro

During the early morning of May 23, families in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood were shocked when a plane crashed, causing cars and even homes to catch fire. At the time, families rushed to safety with eight people injured. But for those inside the plane, it was a different story as the crash killed music agent Dave Shapiro. With a small group traveling in the plane, reports suggested that no survivors had been found. Although authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, it was revealed that Daniel Williams, the former drummer for The Devil Wears Prada was also on board.

Helping form The Devil Wears Prada back in 2005, Williams stayed with the group for over a decade when he decided to leave. Wanting to shift his career into another profession, Williams eventually took a job at GoPro. And at only 39 years old, the musician had a great deal of dreams ahead of him.

While authorities confirmed Williams was on the plane, the drummer’s father identified him. Apparently, the drummer even shared pictures from the flight on his Instagram Stories.

Heartbroken over the news, The Devil Wears Prada posted a touching tribute to the musician on Facebook. Sharing a few pictures of Williams, the band wrote, “No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever.”

Fans Remember Legacy Of Daniel Williams

Besides The Devil Wears Prada remembering Williams, fans also took a moment to note his impact on the music industry. “Daniel’s drumming is what first got me into metalcore. I listened to WRAABB and was blown away by his playing. RIP!” Another person insisted, “Here’s to you, Daniel! I’m sure you’d want us to celebrate your life and the music that touched so many hearts. Your talent helped me through tough times, and I’ll always be grateful. Rest in peace, brother.”

As for Shapiro, the talent agent who helped create Sound Talent Group was also remembered as he represented groups like Sum 41. A representative from the agency wrote, “We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.”

With the plane crash still under investigation, no information has been released as to what exactly caused the plane to plummet to the ground.
