Fresh on the heels of the 2025 NAMM show, we can expect to see tons of awesome gear announcements popping up from all corners of the market. Which excites me personally to no end—Especially when it comes to my favorite guitar brands!
Like Gibson for example, who just unveiled a new addition to their Custom Color Series. The series now features ES-335s (in addition to the already wildly popular SGs and Les Paul Standards) in striking new finishes, including Watermelon, Ocean Blue, Blood Moon, and Spearmint. While you can get a pretty good idea of what these finishes look like just from reading the names, take a look for yourself anyway:

That’s about what you expected, isn’t it?
I’ve got to say, though, that the inclusion of a GOLDTOP ES-335 is by far the most appealing to my personal sensibilities (bright rainbow colors aren’t for everyone; what can I say?). Harkening back to the original Goldtop Les Pauls of the 1950s, this gold colorway just screams classic Gibson vibes.

These new 335s come in either Plain Top or Figured Top, both of which are constructed from layered Maple/Poplar/Maple ply. A solid Maple center block puts the semi in semi-hollow, adding sustain and warmth to the guitar’s tone and controlling feedback. They’ve got a rounded “C” mahogany neck and a rosewood-capped fretboard with acrylic dot (Plain Top) or block (Figured Top) inlays—all fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets.
Vintage Deluxe tuners, a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece keep your strings singing (and in tune, no less) and calibrated T-Type humbuckers are there to pick it all up. All this comes in a Gibson hardshell case that will protect that gorgeous new Custom Color finish in transit or storage.
