Police were dispatched to Macklemore’s home at 12:48 AM Saturday after the family’s nanny was able to break away from the home invaders and get to a phone, according to NBC News. The rapper and his wife, Tricia Davis share three small children who were home at the time.

The unnamed nanny had just put the children to bed when she saw a pair of men entering the home’s patio door. They were dressed in black and wore masks, gloves, and tactical-style vests. They were also armed with bear mace. When the two saw her, the taller of the assailants ordered his accomplice to spray the witness with the mace. That was only the beginning of her ordeal, though.

“Where are the jewels?” the taller of the two robbers asked Macklemore’s nanny. She led them to the home’s master bedroom where they ransacked drawers and the closet. “They took numerous watches, jewelry items, and shoes that they put into bags,” according to a police report.
While they were searching the room, the home invaders instructed the nanny to face a mirror and keep her hands over her head. Later, they threw her to the ground, and the shorter of the assailants stood on the back of her neck and stole her phone. When she started to scream, the assailant covered her mouth with his hand to keep her quiet.
After trying and failing to kick the home invader in the crotch, she bit his hand hard enough to force him to release his hold on her mouth. At that point, the nanny ran from the house and frantically knocked on neighbors’ doors until someone let her in and allowed her to call the police.
The men fled before the police arrived at Macklemore’s home. Fortunately, the children were still in their rooms and unharmed. Family members arrived shortly after the police to remove the children from the scene. At this time, neither the rapper nor his representatives have commented on the robbery.
