Halsey Channels Bruce Springsteen in Latest Album Teaser: “I’m a Jersey Girl”

Halsey has been creatively counting down to the release of her newest album, The Great Impersonator, by being exactly that—a great impersonator. She’s already donned the aesthetics of Dolly Parton, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Cher, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries, and Stevie Nicks. Now, she’s taking on The Boss and fellow New Jersey native, Bruce Springsteen.

Dressing up in a white t-shirt and jeans, holding a guitar against an American flag backdrop, Halsey emulated the aesthetics of Springsteen’s 1984 album Born in the U.S.A. She also perfectly modeled her pose against a photo of Springsteen included in the next slide of the Instagram post.

“NJ’s finest aka The Boss aka BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN,” Halsey wrote in the caption. “This one requires no explanation, I’m a Jersey girl,” she added. Springsteen is from Long Branch while Halsey is from Edison, New Jersey.

The new album, out on October 25, features the previously released songs “Lucky,” “Lonely is the Muse,” and “Ego.” Halsey has stated that she made the album amid intense health issues. “I made this record in the space between life and death. And it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it. I’ll wait a bit longer. I’ve waited a decade, already,” she wrote on Twitter.

Halsey Impersonates Music Icons While Counting Down New Album Release

Halsey’s transformations this month have been uncanny, as she’s gone the extra mile to impersonate music legends. Her first transformation into Dolly Parton made her the spitting image of the country queen, complete with sky-high blonde hair.

She’s also been tying in a snippet of a new song with each transformation. The first was “Hometown,” with other tracks coming in the following days. She’s teased the following songs along with the accompanying impersonations: “Dog Years” with PJ Harvey; “I Never Loved You” with Kate Bush, which has since been released; “Letter to God (1974)” with Cher; “Darwinism” with David Bowie; “Lonely is the Muse” with Amy Lee, also released; “Ego” with Dolores O’Riordan; and “Panic Attack” with Stevie Nicks.

For the Springsteen transformation, Halsey teased the song “Letter to God (1983).” Judging by the title, this is a companion to “Letter to God (1974).” However, fans can listen to the snippets on Halsey’s Instagram and compare.
