“It Could Turn Out As an Embarrassment”: Bob Daisley Reveals His Reaction to Not Being Invited to Perform During Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Show

This summer, Ozzy Osbourne will reunite with Black Sabbath for one final concert in Birmingham, England. The July 5 fundraising show will feature solo performances from Osbourne and the original Sabbath lineup. However, Ozzy’s longtime collaborator, bassist Bob Daisley won’t be there.

Daisley was a large part of Osbourne’s solo output in the early ‘80s. He wrote the bulk of the lyrics on Osbourne’s first solo albums. Additionally, he and guitarist Randy Rhoads wrote most of the music for those albums. According to his recollection, Osbourne contributed only vocal melodies during the creative process of those early releases. However, he didn’t get an invite to the forthcoming reunion show. He shared his reaction to the snub in a recent interview with Indie Power TV.

Bob Daisley Doesn’t Want to Perform at Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Show

“I just hope they pull it off and it comes out good,” Bob Daisley said of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s farewell show. “I couldn’t be invited to something like that and if I was would I want to be there? I really don’t know,” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Daisley mentioned there had been some “dirty water under the bridge” between him and Osbourne. He mentioned lawsuits over credits on early solo albums and other things. So, he was less surprised than many diehard fans to learn that Osbourne left him out of the farewell show.

“To be honest with you, I don’t think I’d want to be a part of that day,” Daisley said. “It will be awkward and it could turn out as an embarrassment as well. We’ll see,” he added.

This isn’t the first time that Osbourne has seemingly snubbed Daisley. When he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he mentioned several members of his solo band including the late great Randy Rhoads but left Daisley’s name out of his speech. “I knew that was coming,” Daisley said. “I was not surprised when I didn’t get a mention. Many people thought that it was wrong and that I should have gotten a mention but I really didn’t expect it,” he added.
