“It’s Just Insane”: Robert Plant Insists Most People Skip Over Led Zeppelin’s Finest Work

While Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980, the legacy the group created continues to inspire and entertain. Over the band’s time on stage, they released several albums and recorded hits like “Black Dog” and “Stairway to Heaven.” Those songs helped them not only sell nearly 300 million albums worldwide but also gain entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Led Zeppelin’s fame was also compared to that of the Beatles. Although thrilled over what they created on stage, singer Robert Plant recently admitted that most people missed some of the band’s greatest songs.

Sitting down with Mojo Magazine, Plant talked all things Led Zeppelin. And according to the singer, “most people have missed some of the best Zeppelin stuff.” The statement from the singer seemed somewhat interesting given the fame that surrounded the group for decades.

Expanding on his initial comment, Plant decided to list a few. “‘For Your Life’, on Presence. ‘Achilles Last Stand!’ F***ing hell. Just extraordinary that three people and a singer can do that. Really, they were pulling so much stuff out of the unknown, Bonham and Jones together on ‘For Your Life’. It’s just insane. And Jimmy, just…” Plant could barely contain himself when thinking back on those historic times with Led Zeppelin.

Robert Plant Continues His Legacy With Saving Grace

Although Plant went on to have a promising solo career, Mojo pressed the singer on the idea of only playing Led Zeppelin hits. Not opposed to the idea, Plant wondered, “What were the hits? How can they be related to now, where do they fit? They fit as a sort of memoir.” He added, “When people say that I don’t like ‘Stairway To Heaven’, I just don’t like the idea of it. These iconic things – they’re just what they are.”

On the verge of turning 77 in a few days, Plant had no interest in slowing down. Back in 2019, he formed the band Saving Grace. And just a year later, the group hit the road with a US tour. Having enjoyed his time with the group, the band will release its first studio album on September 26, 2025, with Saving Grace
