Katy Perry Feels Like a “Human Piñata” After Online Criticism of Tour, Blue Origin Space Flight

Just two weeks ago, the world watched Katy Perry kiss the ground as she returned from the edge of space. The “Firework” star, 40, participated in Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission as part of the first all-female crew since the 1960s. Just over a week later, Perry kicked off her Lifetimes Tour in Mexico City, supporting her latest album 143. Drawing significant backlash for both, the pop star recently thanked her fans and lashed out at her haters in a candid social media comment.

Katy Perry Blasts “Unhinged and Unhealed” Critics

Do you ever feel like a human piñata? Katy Perry does, and the “Woman’s World” singer recently took to social media to express that sentiment.

“Please know I am ok, I have done a lot work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me,” Perry wrote in a lengthy social media comment. “My therapist said something years ago that has been a game changer, ;’no one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself’ and if I ever do have any feelings about it then it’s an opportunity to investigate the feeling underneath it.”

After launching her Lifetimes Tour last Wednesday, Perry went viral for what many called “cringe” choreography. “it honestly looks like something a high school theater production would put together and I am so perplexed,” one Reddit user wrote.

Coming on the heels of negative press stemming from her Blue Origin space flight, the “Teenage Dream” hitmaker has seemingly had enough.

“When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” Perry continued.

“I Keep Looking to the Light”

While responding to criticism, Katy Perry also took the time to shout out her supporters. “I find people to lock eyes and sing with and I know we are healing each other in a small way when I get to do that,” she wrote.

Admitting that she is “not perfect,” the pop star concluded, “I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS.”
