Keith Urban’s Onstage Injury Is Guaranteed to “Make Y’all Squirm”

No matter the singer or genre, every performer has at some point or another suffered from an injury on stage. From broken bones to dealing with sickness, most singers will do whatever possible to make sure they don’t have to cancel a show. Again, playing sick, playing hurt, and even playing under the influence of drugs or alcohol, singers hate nothing more than canceling. And recently, Keith Urban opened up about how a simple injury led to a great deal of pain when he tried to play the guitar.

Appearing on Much Music, Urban discussed a plethora of topics surrounding his career in the spotlight. But when sharing a story about cutting his finger, the singer quickly showed that the simplest of injuries can be a nuisance. “So, I got a band-aid on my finger, so if I drop a pick, I’ll probably rip this thing off at some point. We were playing last night, a club show, and I cut my finger at some point, and then as I pulled my finger up a strumming stroke, the string went into the cut.”

For any person who has ever had a paper cut, they know how irritating the healing process can be. But for Urban, he watched as he reopened the wound while playing the guitar. Never stopping, he told the crowd, “I’m just gonna make y’all squirm like I did last night.”

Keith Urban Covers “Pink Pony Club”

Besides discussing how he powered through the performance, Urban also showcased his talents when singing without a band or elaborate stage. Using nothing more than a guitar, he decided to cover Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.” Although that might not sound like a typical song for Urban, he quickly proved that his talents went far beyond his own discography.

As for fans, they absolutely loved the cover of “Pink Pony Club” as comments included, “Best male cover I ever heard of Pink Pony Club.” Another person insisted, “I hadn’t thought of “Pink Pony Club” a metaphor, but it is. It’s a great analogy of the internal drive to ‘find the others’! As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this interview with Keith.”
