The devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina is no longer plastered on every news outlet’s front page. However, that doesn’t mean the entire region is back to business as usual. Countless residents are still trying to salvage what remains of their homes and lives and rebuild. Lainey Wilson is the latest country star to lend a hand in that process.

Yesterday (October 21), Wilson traveled to Chimney Rock, North Carolina. The village was all but wiped off the face of the earth when the hurricane rolled through late last month. As a result, first responders and citizens are still working hard to rebuild. Wilson came to Chimney Rock to deliver supplies. At the same time, she was there to thank the first responders for all they do and to boost morale.
Chimney Rock’s Facebook page posted about Wilson’s visit adding, “The Village is appreciative of efforts to bring awareness and support for our community.”
Lainey Wilson Is the Latest Country Star to Help North Carolina Residents
Over the last few years, Lainey Wilson showed the world that country is cool again. Now, she and some of her fellow country stars are showing the world that it’s cool to be kind. She is the latest in a line of artists to step up and lend a helping hand.
Dolly Parton, a huge inspiration on Wilson’s career and outlook on life as well as a resident of Eastern Tennessee pledged to help the people affected by Helene. During a press conference, Parton announced that she was donating a million dollars from her personal bank account. Additionally, Parton and her partners at Dollywood raised an additional million dollars. “These are my mountains, these are my valleys, these are my rivers flowing like a stream, these are my people, these mountain-colored rainbows,” Parton said. “These are my people and this is my home.”
Days later, Explore Asheville and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority announced Concert for Carolina. Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings, and James Taylor are set to headline the event. Combs, Church, and Taylor call the Tar Heel State home. Strings, a Michigan native, has a special fondness for the region due to his connection to bluegrass music and artists like Doc Watson who hailed from the state.
