Well, we can confidently say nobody was expecting (or asking for) this one. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who isn’t exactly known for his music, has just released a cover song with famed music producer T-Pain. The song is a cover of Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz’s raunchy hip-hop hit from 2003, “Get Low”. The music duo also has a name: “Z-Pain”.

You can listen to the track below:
The cover is a pretty stark divergence from the original song. Rather than having that notable Southern rap vibe, Zuckerberg and T-Pain’s cover is a very soft, acoustic version of the OG club song. We’d say it even has new age vibes. In a way, it kind of works; but quite a few people online are not fans of the very glittery, overproduced rendition of “Get Low” which could very well have been released in jest.
Mark Zuckerberg’s Connection to “Get Low” by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz
The decision to cover this song wasn’t just an attempt to be as meme-worthy as possible. In fact, the Facebook CEO has a pretty endearing connection to the famous dirty rap song.
Zuckerberg took to Instagram (which is owned by Meta, Facebook’s parent company) shortly after the song was released to post a carousel of photos of Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan. The carousel also features images and video footage of Zuckerberg and T-Pain apparently recording their cover of “Get Low”. Zuckerberg and Chan have been together for years and were married in 2012.
“‘Get Low’ was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we listen to it on our dating anniversary,” the caption of the post noted. “This year I worked with [T-Pain] on our own version of this lyrical masterpiece.”
We have to admit, that’s kind of cute. Unfortunately, that hasn’t stopped quite a few netizens from poking fun at the song.
“Sounds like a Weird Al parody,” said one commenter.
“This dude is so unserious,” said another.
We doubt Zuckerberg is trying to break out into a solo music career, and we also doubt he cares about what people think of this sweet tribute to his wife.
