We’re just over two weeks away from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse releasing in theaters across the country. Following the beloved character Miles Morales’ journey, Across the Spider-Verse serves as a sequel to the animated 2018 Marvel movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The first film’s soundtrack included the smash hit song “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified diamond by RIAA in November 2020. Additionally, it contained appearances from Nicki Minaj, Juice WRLD, Lil Wayne, Vince Staples, and Aminé.
For the sequel, though, Marvel recruited superstar hip-hop producer Metro Boomin to executively produce the soundtrack. On Wednesday (May 17), Metro made this announcement via Twitter.
“METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN™: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE SOUNDTRACK FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE,” he wrote. “June 2nd I’m excited to share this album with the world!!”
Although the full track list for the soundtrack has not been revealed, Metro shared a preview of one of the project’s songs on Twitter, which is titled “Self Love” by Coi Leray.
Additionally on Wednesday, Metro tweeted about his overwhelming excitement for the soundtrack’s eventual June 2 release.
“In the gym (right now) and this @SpiderVerse soundtrack getting me thruuuu,” he wrote.
The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack will arrive about seven months after Metro Boomin dropped his sophomore studio album Heroes & Villains, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold 180,000 copies in its first week. Songs like “Creepin’,” with The Weeknd and 21 Savage, and “Superhero,” with Future and Chris Brown, both peaked inside the top 10 of the Hot 100.
So, with his recent LP features guest appearances from The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, 21 Savage, Young Thug, A$AP Rocky, and more, it will be interesting to see who joins Coi Leray on the Across the Spider-Verse project. Knowing Metro Boomin, though, his endless Rolodex of hip-hop connections will surely make for a crop of exciting new songs from marquee artists.
