Miranda Lambert Honored Her Bandmate’s Late Father With This Sweet Gesture

A country superstar in her own right, Miranda Lambert is currently crossing the country with Morgan Wallen as she opens for his I’m the Problem Tour. Most recently, the highly-anticipated tour stopped for two nights July 11 and 12 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. Ahead of taking the stage, Lambert realized she had forgotten the belt she planned to wear. Fortunately, her background singer had a spare—which led to a bittersweet moment.

Taking to social media Saturday (July 12), Lambert revealed that her background vocalist, Gwen Sebastian, had recently lost her father. And fortunately for the “Wranglers” singer, Sebastian had packed an extra belt that once belonged to her dad. It even bore his name, Gerald.

Lambert shared a series of photos from the July 11 show, one of which showed her and Sebastian hoisting the belt buckle above their heads.

“What an an honor to wear that last night in Miami,” wrote Lambert, 41. “Love you Gwennie!!”

According to his obituary, Gerald Sebastian died in February at age 76 in Hebron, North Dakota.

“He was up there pickin and singing along,” Sebastian commented on Lambert’s post. “Love you my friend.”

Another Instagram user added, “He put the Gerald in ‘Geraldene’ last night. love this!!”

In a March 1 Instagram post, Sebastian wrote of her dad, “Your legacy is the man who loved the land and loved his wife in a way that even John Wayne couldn’t portray. Committed and honest. A friend and neighbor you could count on in minus 30 degrees. A dad with the greatest Donald Duck impression and the best Saturday morning pancakes. Mischievous but serious when it came down to common sense.”

“love you sending all the light,” Miranda Lambert commented.

Miranda Lambert and Gwen Sebastian Met on ‘The Voice’

Gwen Sebastian’s relationship with Miranda Lambert dates back more than a decade. The singer-songwriter competed on season 2 of The Voice, selecting Lambert’s then-husband Blake Shelton as her coach.

Sebastian worked with both Shelton and Lambert during her time on the show, although she was eliminated at the Battle Rounds. Since then, she has toured with both artists and become a fixture in the “Kerosene” singer’s band.
