Nothing gets the gears turning in the internet outrage machine quite like a national anthem gaffe. Just ask country star Ingrid Andress, who went viral earlier this year for her drunken rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the MLB Home Run Derby. Or Fergie, who ruffled a few feathers when she decided to add a little jazz to her 2018 NBA All-Star Game performance. Now, indie singer Loomis has found herself on that less-than-desirable list.

Loomis Goes Viral After National Anthem Snafu
A national anthem gig can serve as a gateway to bigger and better things for musical newcomers like Loomis. Although the Los Angeles-based indie-rapper has yet to release an album, she dropped her first single, “Cereal,” in 2021. Loomis followed up with 2022’s “I Want the World.”
Last Thursday (Oct. 24), the up-and-coming singer took the stage during a third-party presidential debate hosted by the Free & Equal Election Foundation. Right off the bat, it was clear the performance was not going as planned. You can listen below, but Loomis just sounds off from the very beginning.
However, the real trouble arrives when she strains to hit the high note during the line, And the rocket’s red glare. After missing it, Loomis blurts out, “I f—ed it up. I f—ed it up. Can I go back, can I go back, please?”
Unfortunately, they could not, as the event was being televised live on CSPAN.

Singer Issues Apology Following National Anthem Mishap
Taking to Instagram Sunday (Oct. 27), Loomis shared a video that showed her taking “full responsibility” for the red-white-and-blue misadventure.
Apologizing to the Free & Equal Election Foundation, the singer tried explaining herself. “I was a little late there and didn’t have a clear cue, which left me flustered when we went live!” she wrote in the caption.
“I know it wasn’t my best, and I’m truly sorry if it didn’t hit the mark,” she continued..”I take full responsibility on my part and ask that you don’t use this incident to reflect on the artist I’m am and trying to be.”
