Newport Folk Festival Heads “Way Over Yonder”

The Newport Folk Festival is heading west this fall as the historic festival presents its inaugural Way Over Yonder weekend. Hosted on the Santa Monica Pier on October 5th & 6th, Newport Folk is transplanting the music-meets-the-bay backdrop the New England original is famous for to California. Way Over Yonder will feature two stages, the main being outdoors on the deck and an acoustic stage, aptly named the Carousel, inside the historic carousel building.

But the setting isn’t the only attraction of the West Coast incarnation – headliners include Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Neko Case, Brett Dennen and First Aid Kit. As longtime producer George Wein put it, “this partnership makes it possible for fans to experience some of the same great artists in a similar picture perfect setting.”
