With a legacy that matched his personality, Ozzy Osbourne helped pioneer heavy metal through the early years of the genre. While a member of Black Sabbath, Ozzy also explored a solo career. Having success at both, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. Just one of the many historic moments in his career, the Prince of Darkness sadly passed away at 76 on July 22nd. Remembering his career, his passion, and his life, fans showered the Osbourne family with love. And recently, a new report revealed what caused Ozzy’s death.

Given his turbulent lifestyle throughout his early career, the days eventually caught up with the singer, causing him several health problems. But besides his rockstar antics, he also suffered from Parkinson’s. Still, with Ozzy battling the disease, he was able to perform with Black Sabbath one last time in early July.

Jack Osbourne’s Wife Labels Ozzy Osbourne “Coolest Father-in-Law Around”
Passing away a few weeks after the Back to the Beginning concert, the Times reported that his death was because of “(a) Out of hospital cardiac arrest (b) Acute myocardial infarction (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes).” Ozzy’s daughter, Aimee Osbourne, traveled to London to submit the death certificate.
While musicians, artists, bands, and fans covered social media with tributes, Ozzy’s family remained somewhat silent as they mourned his passing. Although, among the tributes, was a touching post from Jack Osbourne’s wife, Aree Gearhart. Posting a picture of her wedding day, Gearhart wrote, “I’m pretty sure I have the coolest father in law around, and the best papa to my kids. The world got a rockstar but we got an ice lolly loving, goofy, big hearted guy who made us laugh like no other. He was always in my corner and I forever am thankful to him for raising my husband and blessing me w my family.”
Not looking to fill the massive hole Ozzy left behind, Gearhart promised, “We got Nana always, Papa. Keep giving us all those signs from above. We’ll keep your name loud, your stories alive, and your love wrapped around us like armor. Forever our guy.”
