Post Malone Welcomed the “Best to Ever F—ing Do It” on Stage for a Johnny Cash Jam Session

In April 2022, Billy Strings played a show at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California. During the show, he brought out a special guest—none other than Post Malone, who, two years later, would have a grand entrance into the world of country music. However, on April 13, he got a little more bluegrassy with Billy Strings instead.

Strings introduced Post, who joined him on stage with a guitar and a drink in his hand. The two embraced to cheers from the crowd. “I found this guy lurking around backstage,” Strings told the audience, adding, “I figured we better drag him up here to f—ing sing for you.”

“Billy Strings is the best to ever f—ing do it,” Post Malone said. He then suggested they do a Johnny Cash song, and the two started in on “Cocaine Blues.” Post took the lead first, proving early on that he can take a more country approach to his vocals. The crowd went wild, singing along to the verses and cheering him on.

For the instrumental break, Strings showed off his stellar picking abilities, navigating the song with ease. Strings’ mandolin player had a moment as well. The band took a delightful turn with this cover; all it needed was a jug to really round everything out.
