If a vinyl pressing of a Nirvana tribute set from Post Malone wasn’t on your 2025 bingo card, you’re definitely not alone there. But if you’re a fan of Malone, you probably already know about his famously acclaimed Nirvana performance from 2020. And luckily for fans just like you, Malone plans on releasing a vinyl recording of the performance on Record Store Day this year.

The famed Nirvana tribute set first aired back in April of 2020. Fans have been begging for an official release for a while now, and it looks like it’s actually happening. Malone’s first-ever commercial release of the tribute set will hit stores with a limited edition pressing on Record Store Day this year, which falls on April 12.
All proceeds from the vinyl release will benefit MusiCares’ Addiction Recovery and Mental Health division. So, your purchase will do some good, too!
Post Malone’s Famed Nirvana Set is Truly Incredible
Post Malone covered 14 of the grunge band Nirvana’s songs back in 2020. The performance was recorded at his Salt Lake City home during the pandemic. Malone wasn’t alone, either. Travis Barker contributed a drum track, with Brian Lee on bass and Nick Mac on the guitar. The covers featured during the iconic set include well-known hits and a few deep cuts, from “Heart-Shaped Box” to “Lounge Act” to “Something In The Way” to “Very Ape”.
Keep an eye out for the release on Record Store Day! Post Malone Tribute To Nirvana will be very limited, with only 17,000 pressings to be sold on April 12.
Post Malone loves music and records, so don’t expect this Nirvana release to be his only contribution to Record Store Day. He was recently named this year’s Record Store Day Ambassador.
“Record Store Day is so important, and I really hope to do my part to keep it alive,” Malone said in a recent press release. “We love hitting local shops when we’re on the road, seeing all the crazy artwork, the whole energy in a record store is just super inspiring. I feel at home.”
The day after Record Store Day, Malone will headline Coachella for the music festival’s first weekend. The performance will mark the beginning of his highly-anticipated Big Ass Stadium Tour. Tickets are still available!
