Dating back to the late 1960s, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) looked to help educate millions of children around the country. Over the years, PBS aired shows like Mister Rogersโ Neighborhood, Barney & Friends, Arthur, Sesame Street, and several other memorable shows. Focused on education, the programming became a pillar for many generations. But recently, PBS faced a massive budget cut due to a new rescissions package heading to the Senate. Not wanting the programming to disappear, country singer Reba McEntire decided to call on her millions of fans to help support PBS.
Back in June, the rescissions package found its way to the House of Representatives. Among the package was an incentive to cut a staggering $1 billion in funding that went to help the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Having worked with PBS in the past and grateful for what the programming has done for the youth over the last four decades, Reba took a stand.

Sharing a video on social media, Reba cared little about the politics and simply asked for help. โHey, itโs Reba. From my appearances on Austin City Limits in 1987, to South Pacific in Concert from Carnegie Hall in 2006, Iโve had a long relationship with PBS. Now, PBS needs our help. In just a few short days, the Senate is going to vote on a bill that would remove federal funding from PBS.โ

Reba McEntire Fans Already Showing Support For PBS
Detailing the massive impact PBS had on children across the country, Reba added, โPBS has done so much for us, from childrenโs education to teaching us about science, the Earth, and the stars. To the most near to my heart, the incredible arts programming that brings the power of live performance into our homes.โ
Reba even made sure to point fans in the right direction when it came to their support. โIf you believe in PBS like I do, check out ProtectMyPublicMedia.org to find out how you can help. Letโs help keep PBS keep delivering the incredible programming that we all love so much.โ
Fans quickly jumped to the comment section to show their support. โYES QUEEN REBA!!! This video is awesome!! Itโs awesome seeing Reba voice her support for such an essential service. PBS is INCREDIBLE. I will always voice my support for PBS, and I will 100% back PBS up.โ
While the future of PBS now rests in the hands of the Senate, as the House of Representatives approved the package, the pressure from adults, children, and even fans of Reba was sure to remind them just how important the program was.
