Senora May is a singer/songwriter, Kentucky native, and Tyler Childers’ wife. Recently, she partnered with the tourism board of her home state to promote travel through the state’s Bluegrass Region. May lent her voice to an animated promotional video enticing visitors to hit the road and see the historic landmarks across the state.

Kentucky Tourism also enlisted some iconic brands from the state to offer free road snacks to travelers at historic stops along the highway. The eight different snack packs depict 16 different Kentucky landmarks. Each pack contains Mingua beef jerky, Blue Monday candies from Ruth Hunt, Feelin’ Your Oats Granola from Hallway Feeds, and a can of Ale-8-One to wash it all down. Those brands along with some of the landmarks across the state appear in the video below.
Senora May Invites Everyone to Take a Country Drive in Kentucky
The promotional video sees an animated version of Senora May driving the scenic roads in Kentucky as one of her songs plays softly in the background. “Ever been on a country drive when the world just made sense?” she asks. “Windows down, music playing, backroads doing all the talking,” she said of those perfect drives through the country.
“We love our horses and bourbon but when friends visit, all we want to do is hop in the truck and hit the road,” she added. “Grab a friend, some snacks, and get ready to see the Kentucky that we really love. See y’all soon,” May Concluded.
Robbie Morgan, director of the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Tourism Commission spoke about the new program in a press release. “As people travel back home to Kentucky for the holidays to visit family and friends, we wanted to celebrate the small towns in the Bluegrass region and pay tribute to some of our local companies who make snacks and sodas enjoyed worldwide,” said Morgan. “While the snack packs are not actually for sale, we are promoting the idea of appreciating the beauty of Kentucky’s iconic destinations while supporting delicious treats from some of our favorite locally-owned businesses.”
