With her signature and mesmerizing dancing, Shakira entranced the crowd with her first GRAMMYs performance since 2007. She sang from her new, GRAMMY-winning album, performing exclusively in Spanish and hyping up the crowd with incredible stage design. Her vocals are still just as unique as they were almost two decades ago, and she brought a rave-like energy to the GRAMMYs to rival Charli XCX.

“I feel bad for whoever has to perform after Shakira. she is a legend and still eats up a stage,” one fan wrote. “What a performance SHAKIRA AT THE GRAMMYS, another fan added.

Shakira is also nominated for a GRAMMY Award this year. Her album, which dropped last March, is nominated for Best Latin Pop Album. She was up against Anitta with Funk Generation, Luis Fonsi with El Viaje, Kany García with García, and Kali Uchis with Orquídeas. Before her performance, she won the award for Best Latin Pop Album, showing support for her “immigrant brothers and sisters” in her acceptance speech. “You are loved [and] you are worth it,” she said.

Shakira, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and More Deliver Memorable Performances at the GRAMMY Awards

Other performers of the night alongside Shakira include the pop girlies of the last year—Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan. Doechii is also performing and is nominated for her first-ever GRAMMY Awards: Best New Artists, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance. She’s been stepping up her game with every performance, so Doechii is definitely one to watch.

Benson Boone and Teddy Swims are also performing at the GRAMMYs for the first time. Boone is nominated for Best New Artist for his breakout hit “Beautiful Things.” Swims is nominated for the same category with his hit song “Lose Control.”

There are also numerous records that will be broken at tonight’s show. Beyoncé could become the most awarded artist in the history of the GRAMMYs if she wins her awards tonight. She currently has 32 GRAMMYs, and with 11 nominations she would be propelled to a total of 43. Additionally, Taylor Swift is looking to extend her record for most Album of the Year awards with five wins. She won last year for Midnights, where she also announced her next album, so an award for The Tortured Poets Department would mean two wins in a row for Swift.
