The trek currently features 19 confirmed shows, kicking off August 4 in the Detroit suburb of Clarkston, Michigan, and running through a September 18 performance in Toronto. Additional dates will be announced soon.

The Doobie Brothers’ lineup continues to feature core members Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons, Michael McDonald, and John McFee.

The late Jimmy Buffett’s longtime recording and touring group, The Coral Reefer Band, will be The Doobies’ support act. Since Buffett’s death in 2023, his band has continued to celebrate his music in concert at his request.

Patrick Simmons’ Statement About the Tour

Co-founding Doobie Brothers singer/guitarist Simmons issued a statement about the upcoming tour on behalf of the band.

“We’re so looking forward to the 2025 Summer tour!” he said. “We’ll be celebrating the release of our new album WALK THIS ROAD and we’re excited to be performing new songs from the record. We’ll warm up with shows in the UK and Ireland then hit the road back in the good old USA. Can’t wait to see you all and bring some new music to our fans.”

Simmons added, “Having The Coral Reefer Band on board with us at these shows really makes this a special experience for the audience and all of us. Doobies and Reefers, hmm… sounds like a perfect match!”

About the Walk This Road Album

Walk This Road is the first collection of new Doobie Brothers songs to feature singer/keyboardist Michael McDonald since the One Step Closer album in 1980. McDonald rejoined The Doobie Brothers’ lineup in 2021, when the band launched its 50th anniversary tour.

Walk This Road features 10 new original tunes. McDonald, Simmons, and co-founding Doobies singer/guitarist Johnston all lent their songwriting talents to the album, with each co-writing material with the record’s producer, John Shanks.

Two songs from Walk This Road, the title track and “Call Me,” have been released in advance so far.

The song “Walk This Road” is a gospel- and soul-influenced tune that features guest vocals by Mavis Staples. All of The Doobie Brothers’ core members—Michael McDonald, Tom Johnston, Simmons, and John McFee—also sing on the track, which offers an uplifting message of unity.

“Call Me,” meanwhile, is a melodic roots-rock tune sung by Johnston.

Walk This Road can be pre-ordered now. The album will be available on CD, as a vinyl LP, and via digital formats. The Doobie Brothers’ online store is offering an exclusive version of the LP pressed on tiger’s-eye vinyl.

Doobie Brothers Members’ Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction

Shortly after the release of Walk This Road, Doobie Brothers members McDonald, Johnston, and Simmons will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The 2025 induction ceremony will take place on June 12 at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York City.
