“Thank You for the Experience of a Lifetime”: Yellowstone Star Luke Grimes Celebrates the “End of an Era”

While wanting to explore a career in the entertainment industry, Luke Grimes found success as an actor. Over the years, he appeared in films like American Sniper, The Magnificent Seven, and even Taken 2. On television, he acted in shows like Brothers & Sisters and True Blood. But nothing compared to when he landed the role of Kayce Dutton on the hit show Yellowstone. Showing the brutality of being a cowboy in today’s world, the show not only gained rave reviews but helped thrust Grimes into country music. And excited about the future, Grimes took a moment to honor his time on Yellowstone

Although fans continue to debate the end of Yellowstone and the departure of Kevin Costner, Grimes didn’t seem interested in getting caught up in theories or “What ifs.” Instead, he posted a picture of himself enjoying a small fire. He captioned the post, writing, “End of an era. Goodbye Kayce. You are a better man than I. To my yellowstone family, thank you for the experience of a lifetime.”

Luke Grimes Discusses Kevin Costner Leaving ‘Yellowstone’

With his post climbing over 200,000 likes, many fans took a moment to thank Grimes for what he brought to the show. Having committed years to the role, the fans understood what the series did for him. “You have been phenomenal Luke. Kacey is such a fantastic character and I hope he makes an appearance in the spin off with Beth and rip. Well done to all involved for bringing us all such joy.”

While Grimes celebrated Yellowstone, not all his memories on the show were great. When speaking with Esquire about the show and Costner leaving, he admitted it was much easier without the actor. “To be really honest, there was a part of Kevin being gone that meant some of the conflict was gone. Obviously, it didn’t make it super fun to be around… Not pointing any fingers, but it was actually the easiest season we’ve filmed.”

Not wanting his words to be taken as a jab towards Costner, Grimes said, “It’s not a case of any hard feelings or anything; it’s just, he’s Kevin Costner. [Laughs] He’s a big deal. I do have his phone number—I just don’t feel like it’s my place to reach out. He can reach out to me if he wants to.”
