Watch Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Play “Ghostbusters” at Their Halloween Concert in Montreal

Who you gonna call if you want to rock out on Halloween in Montreal? Who better than Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band? The Boss and his famous backing group kicked off a new Canadian leg of their tour on Thursday, October 31, at the Bell Centre arena in Montreal with an epically fun rendition of “Ghostbusters.”

This marked the first time Springsteen had ever performed the upbeat pop song, which was a No. 1 hit for Ray Parker Jr. in 1984.

As seen in a fan-shot YouTube video, Bruce and the band took the stage to the strains of pre-recorded horror-film music. Befitting the spooky occasion, the entire group was dressed in black. Springsteen was the last to hit the stage, and addressed the French Canadian crowd, saying, “Hello, Montreal! Bonsoir!” before the band kicked into the tune.

The E Street Band’s expanded lineup, which includes a horn section and several backing singers, helped deliver a faithful version of the song.

The concert featured a 29-song set that included plenty of Springsteen classics and fan favorites. Among the tunes performed were “The Promised Land,” “Hungry Heart,” “Atlantic City,” “Backstreets,” “Because the Night,” “Badlands,” “Thunder Road,” “Born to Run,” “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight),” “Dancing in the Dark,” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.”

More About “Ghostbusters”

“Ghostbusters” is the theme song to the popular 1984 supernatural comedy film of the same name. The movie starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and the late Harold Ramis. The group of parapsychologists launch a ghost-catching business in New York City.

The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in August 1984, replacing Prince’s “When Doves Cry” at No. 1 on the chart.
