2024 has been the year of Post Malone and everyone else. In August, the “Congratulations” rapper made full entry into the country music scene with his album, F-1 Trillion. All but three of the tracks were collaborations, featuring everyone from Tim McGraw to Lainey Wilson. Posty’s versatility was on display again over the weekend when he joined Sublime onstage at a corporate gig for their signature hit “What I Got.”

“Take a Tip From Posty”
Beloved ska-punk legends Sublime have re-entered the conversation this year with Jakob Nowell—son of late frontman Bradley Nowell—at the helm. Last Friday (Dec. 13), the “Santeria” crew took the stage in Cancun, Mexico, at an annual company retreat for Power Home Remodeling.
First of all, that is wholly unlike any corporate retreat I have ever embarked upon. Second of all, it got even better when none other than Post Malone strode onstage. The “I Had Some Help” hitmaker traded vocals with Jakob Nowell on Sublime’s 1996 hit “What I Got.”
Dressed the part in flannel and a baseball cap, Posty joined Jakob in rapping the instantly recognizable chorus: Well, life is too short, so love the one you got/ ‘Cause you might get run over, or you might get shot.
“Take a tip from Posty,” the band captioned a clip of the performance posted to their Instagram page.
For me, this performance expertly balances nostalgia and excitement for Sublime’s future with Jakob filling his dad’s shoes. And it looks like I’m not alone. “Post Malone and Sublime?! Hell yeah!” one fan wrote on X/Twitter.

Post Malone and Sublime Have Teamed Up Before
Post Malone is no stranger to performing with Sublime. In 2019, the “Pour Me a Drink” hitmaker also welcomed the Long Beach staples—then headed by lead vocalist Rome Ramirez—onstage for a duet of “Santeria” during his Bud Light’s Dive Bar Tour.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m up here tonight with Sublime,” Malone said. “So it’s only f—ing right that we play ‘Santeria’ for y’all crazy motherf—ers.”
In 2023, the 10-time Billboard Music Award winner also jumped onstage at an Auckland, New Zealand pub to put his own spin on “What I Got.”
