Josh Abbott founded his namesake country music band in 2006 with Texas Tech fraternity brothers Austin Davis, Neel Huey, and Andrew Hurt. Nearly two decades later, the Josh Abbott Band has released eight albums, with the last one, Somewhere Down the Road, coming in 2024. In that time, the band’s founder married wife Taylor in 2019. The couple have two children, daughter Emery, 7, and son Luck, 4. Recently, the two youngsters joined their daddy onstage for a sweet performance of his 2020 song “The Luckiest.”

Audience Goes Wild For Josh Abbott’s Young Kids
The Josh Abbott Band kicked off 2025 with a pair of shows Jan 3-4 at the historic Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth. And the Texas country icon had a delightful surprise in store for Friday’s (Jan. 3) crowd when he invited his two children onstage.
Emery and Luck Abbott performed “The Luckiest” alongside their father. The song, off 2020’s The Highway Kind, has become a mainstay in the group’s setlist. Little Luck melted hearts when he pointed down to his shoes at the line, And I’m lucky for the miles on my boots.
Abbott shared a clip of the sweet moment with his social media followers. “What a special moment last night!!!” he wrote on Instagram.
Fans loved it, with one calling the moment “awesomely beautiful.” Another added, “Best shows you’ll ever do! Absolutely precious!!”
Fellow Texas country staple Wade Bowen also chimed in, writing, “Hell Yeah Boy.”
See Him Share the Stage With Kids in 2024
Clearly, Josh Abbott doesn’t mind taking a backseat to his two adorable children. Emery and Luck also took the stage to perform “The Luckiest” during a November show in Austin.
The “She’s Like Texas” singer took a step back to give his kids their moment. His daughter is dressed especially for her closeup, sporting a sparkly cowboy hat and boots. Never missing a beat, both still took the time to wave to the crowd.
“Beyond lucky to have these two!” Abbott wrote in a Nov. 13 TikTok post. “Always a blast when they come up on stage with us!”
