Ah, the 90s era of music. It was quite a time. Pop music was amazing, rock music was evolving fast, the digitization of music was on the rise, and things were still somewhat simple. It was a very different time. And anyone who was a kid in the 90s will recognize the following three super nostalgic songs right away. Letโs take a look!
โGenie In A Bottleโ by Christina Aguilera
Every child in the 90s was singing the nostalgic lyrics of โGenie In A Bottleโ by Christina Aguilera without understanding the meaning of those somewhat vulgar lyrics. A lot of songs in the 90s were like that. Still, it was a bop, and the song ended up being one of the catchiest songs of 1999.ย

โGenie In A Bottleโ topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for weeks. It even earned Aguilera a Grammy nom as well. And if you were a latchkey kid who sat in front of the TV watching Total Request Live for hours on end, you probably saw this songโs music video about a million times.
โI Will Always Love Youโ by Whitney Houston
This gorgeous, nostalgic 90s song was originally written by country queen Dolly Parton in 1974. Her sweet and soulful version is still very much loved today. But nobody could have anticipated how big a hit it would be for singer Whitney Houston, whose version for the soundtrack of the 1992 film The Bodyguard exploded onto the charts that year.ย
In fact, Houstonโs belting version stayed at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart for 14 weeks. Today, itโs still one of the best-selling singles of all time by a female solo musician. And, naturally, Houston took home a few Grammy Awards for the track.
โAlways Be My Babyโ by Mariah Carey
The mid-to-late 90s were really Mariah Careyโs golden years. Her voice was at its best, and her pop and R&B hits always seemed to be on the Hot 100 chart in some capacity. One of her most nostalgic 90s songs has to be the 1996 hit โAlways Be My Babyโ, which topped the Hot 100 for weeks.
Sheโs one of the most successful No. 1 hit female artists of her generation for a reason, and โAlways Be My Babyโ is just one of many nostalgic hits from Carey that any 90s kid would remember.
