5. Holiday music at Dollywood

Nashville comes to life at Christmas, but just up the road in East Tennessee, Dolly Parton’s hometown of Gatlinburg also lights up with the spirit of Christmas at her theme park, Dollywood, with Smoky Mountain Christmas. For nearly two months, Dollywood hosts an extravagant light display and a Santa workshop, along with live music. Billed as “Heartwarming Holiday Shows,” the live entertainment takes place outdoors so attendees can soak in the crisp mountain air as they enjoy the magic of “Appalachian Christmas,” “Holiday Wild Roots,” and “O Holy Night.”

4. Darryl Worley & Friends at Gaylord Opryland

Like the Grand Ole Opry, its neighbor Gaylord Opryland also hosts a lavish Christmas display filled with lights, decorations, and music. Darryl Worley is leading the music charge with the Darryl Worley & Friends Home For the Holidays show that runs all season long, beginning on Thanksgiving night (November 23) featuring gospel group The Isaacs. All shows take place at the Tennessee Ballroom, with Billy Gilman and Andy Griggs set to join the lineup in December.

“I am thrilled to celebrate the holidays @gaylordoprylandresort this year,” Worley shares on Instagram. “We are going to make some amazing holiday memories with you all!! I’m thankful to get to share the stage with these amazing friends!”

3. Christmas 4 Kids at the Ryman Auditorium

Christmas also marks the season of giving, and if there’s any city that knows how to give back, it’s Nashville. The 2023 Christmas 4 Kids benefit show sees Chapel Hart, American Idol‘s HunterGirl, Shenandoah, Phil Vassar, and Mikayla Lane performing in support of the nonprofit which brings the joy of Christmas to children in need in the Middle Tennessee area. The concert takes over the Ryman on November 20.

2. Opry Country Christmas (November 26 and 29)

Every year, the Grand Ole Opry’s annual Christmas show, Opry Country Christmas, draws country fans from all over. In 2023, the Opry Country Christmas season kicks off days after Thanksgiving with shows on November 26 and 29. Jon Pardi, The War and Treaty, and Lauren Alaina lead the lineups on each night (Pardi performs on November 26, and The War and Treaty and Alaina on the 29th), with The Gatlin Brothers, Mandy Barnett, and Kathy Mattea among the supporting acts.

1. Brett Eldredge Christmas show at the Ryman Auditorium (November 24-26)

For any country music fan, there’s arguably no more alluring holiday show than Brett Eldredge‘s. What started as a secret show in Nashville has graduated into a full-blown annual tour, and rightfully so. Eldredge transforms into Mr. Christmas (the moniker also lending itself to his 2021 album), dazzling audiences everywhere with his Frank Sinatra-esque voice that lights up Christmas classics alongside his original holiday tunes. Eldredge’s Christmas show is not to be missed. It kicks off with a three-night stay at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Thanksgiving weekend on November 24-26.
