Celine Dion has seen her share of both trials and triumphs in the last few years. In December 2022, the “My Heart Will Go On” songbird revealed that she had been diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disorder Stiff Person Syndrome. Even knowing her limitations, Dion was determined to return to the stage. She did just that last summer with a mind-blowing performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony. Recently, Dion took to social media to remember her beloved husband on the anniversary of his death.

“You Are Forever Missed Mon Amour”
Celine Dion married her former manager, René Angélil, in 1994. They were together until Jan. 14, 2016, when the Canadian music producer died from throat cancer at age 73.
Dion took to social media Tuesday (Jan. 14) to pay tribute to her husband on the ninth anniversary of his passing. The five-time Grammy winner shared a photo of herself with the couple’s three sons, René-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy.
“René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I,” she wrote. “You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour…. We love you.”
Supportive comments began pouring in, with one Instagram user writing, “Hard to believe 9 years already, but what a legacy he has left behind and how proud he would be of you and the boys.”
Celine Dion Met Her Husband When She Was 12 Years Old
Before she became Canada’s all-time best-selling recording artist, Celine Dion wrote and composed her debut single, “Ce n’était qu’un rêve,” at age 12. Her brother sent the recording to music manager Rene Angélil after finding his name on the back of a Ginette Reno album.
Intrigued, Angélil, 38, invited the budding superstar for an in-person audition. “While I was singing, he started to cry,” Dion told PEOPLE magazine years later. “I knew then I had done a good job.”
In fact, Angélil was so fiercely convinced of the 12-year-old’s star power that he mortgaged his home to fund her debut album, La Voix du bon Dieu. And thus kicked off an incredible career spanning four decades and over 200 million albums sold worldwide.
