According to U.K. newspaper The Independent, the gathering took place at the Mount Street restaurant in the Mayfair, London. Among the attendees at the bash was Stewart’s good friend, longtime Rolling Stones guitarist and Rod’s one-time Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, along with Wood’s wife, Sally.
Wood took to his social media pages to post a couple of photos and a video clip from the evening. He also wrote a note commenting about the party that read, “Really fun night celebrating Rod’s 80th!”
The video clip captured Wood and Stewart goofing around, pushing their noses together, then embracing while laughing. One pic features Ronnie and Rod with their spouses, and another shows Wood and Stewart posing cheek to cheek.

At the party, Stewart wore a colorful floral jacket with a big button pinned to it that read, “Birthday Bhoy.” Bhoy is an alternate slang spelling of the word boy used in Ireland and Scotland.
Wood’s wife, Sally, also posted a message on her Instagram page about the party, along with the same photo of her with her husband and the Stewarts together.
Sally’s note reads, “Last night with @sirrodstewart @penny.lancaster @ronniewood celebrating Sir Rod’s 80th birthday ~ the most beautiful night. Thank you @penny.lancaster for being the best surprise party organiser ever, we love you both.”
Jools Holland Also Attended the Party
Meanwhile, former Squeeze keyboardist and BBC host Jools Holland also attended Stewart’s birthday bash. Holland collaborated with Stewart on Rod latest studio album, Swing Fever, a collection of big band-era tunes that was released in February 2024.
Holland posted a message on his socials that reads, “Had a great time celebrating @sirrodstewart’s birthday with @ronniewood.” It was accompanied by a photo of Holland, Stewart, and Wood together.
Stewart and Wood Have Been Working on a New Faces Project
For the last few years, Stewart and Wood have been working on a new Faces recording project with the band’s original drummer, Kenney Jones. The album reportedly will feature new songs and previously unreleased archival material that the bandmates are finishing.
Wood shared an update about the status of the project during a BBC Radio interview in November 2024.
“I’ve been in the studio with the Faces last week, and we are making some continued developments of music we made back in day,” he said. “And it still sounds like no time has gone by.”
