“I’ve Been Keeping a Little Secret”: ‘American Idol’ Alum Announces Birth of His Daughter

American Idol judges dubbed Warren Peay a “Christian Chris Stapleton” following his stunning audition performance of Zach Williams’ 2016 song “To the Table.” The South Carolina appliance repair technician made an impressive run on season 21 before his ultimate elimination in the Top 8. Since his stint on live TV, Peay has kept fans updated on his music career through social media. However, his latest bit of good news had nothing to do with music. The 26-year-old singer recently welcomed his first child with his wife, Sarah.

“I’ve Been Keeping A Little Secret”

Warren Peay shocked American Idol fans Wednesday (Jan. 22) when he shared a photo of himself with wife Sarah and their newborn daughter, Lorelei Elizabeth Peay.

“This little bundle of joy has kept Sarah and I on our toes for a few weeks, but we are so happy to finally have our sweet baby girl!” he wrote in the caption. “God sure has blessed us, and we can’t wait to see the child of God she will become!”

Fellow season 21 contestant Zachariah Smith also weighed in, writing, “Congratulations Y’all!!!”

Peay was previously the lead singer of the Christian band Colston Branch, which released a self-titled debut album in 2019 before the duck hunter decided to strike out on his own. He received a crash course in the music industry when he auditioned for American Idol in fall 2022.

“There’s just so many different things that you learn and go through that teaches you about the industry,” he told the Times and Democrat in July 2023. “Not just music, but about film, as well, and how they shoot television shows. I mean, that’s a whole new world for me.”

He added that he felt “blessed” for the experience.

“That kind of told me that a music career would be possible for me,” he said.
