Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and More Team Up for Iconic Cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”

“Espresso” is getting the “Lyrical Improv” treatment! On Saturday, W Magazine released a star-studded video full of singers and actors performing their rendition of Sabrina Carpenter‘s hit.

Videos by American Songwriter

The video began with Ariana Grande finding the lyrics to the song in front here. After Grande questioned why the lyrics were there, a person off camera informed her that they were going to ask people to sing the track, but didn’t think the Wicked star would want to participate.

“Well, you’re mistaken ma’am,” Grande quipped in response.

Saoirse Ronan, Colman Domingo, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Selena Gomez, Cynthia Erivo, and more participated in the bit.

Ronan started off on an honest note by revealing that she thought the song was called “Nespresso” until that very moment. Once things got underway, some participants opted to do a dramatic reading while others tried to do their best impression of Carpenter.

Louis-Dreyfus fit into the former category, which led to laughs, especially when she got to the lyric, “My honey bee, come and get this pollen.” The Veep alum seemed stunned by the lyric in question, remarking, “Oh, dirty” after speaking the line.

Gomez wrapped up the tune, but wasn’t all that pleased with her performance.

“It’s safe to say Sabrina does it better,” Gomez quipped.
