New Paul McCartney L.A.-Area Photo Exhibit to Feature Signed Prints and Previously Unseen Beatlemania-Era Images

Following Paul McCartney’s three recent intimate New York City concerts and his finale performance on the SNL50 TV special, a new exhibition of the Beatles legend’s photography is slated to open at the Gagosian gallery in Beverly Hills, California, this spring.

The exhibit, which debuts April 25, will feature 36 images taken between December 1963 and the end of February 1964.

McCartney collaborated with the gallery to produce a limited number of prints of the photos and has signed each one. Part of the proceeds from the sales of the prints will be donated to help recovery and rebuilding efforts for the areas devastated by the recent Southern California wildfires.

The photos featured in the exhibit were taken during and shortly before The Beatles’ historic first visit to the U.S. Many of the pics capture the excitement and chaos that surrounded McCartney and his bandmates as “Beatlemania” began to explode.

The images offer a mix of black-and-white and color pics shot in Liverpool, U.K.; London; Paris; New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Miami. They include self-portraits, candid photos of Paul’s bandmates, and pics of fans who swarmed the group at the time.

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held at the gallery on April 25, starting at 6 p.m. PT. The McCartney exhibit will remain on display through June 21.

About McCartney’s “Eye of the Storm” Touring Exhibit

The Gagosian exhibition will take place at the same time as the “Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eye of the Storm” touring exhibit will be on display at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

The “Eyes of the Storm” exhibit features more than 250 photos taken by McCartney during the same period as the pics that will be featured in the Gagosian gallery display. The touring exhibit boasts photos that appear in McCartney’s 2023 coffee-table book 1964: Eyes of the Storm.

The “Eyes of the Storm” exhibition will open at the de Young Museum on March 1 and will run through July 6. The exhibit debuted in June 2023 at the National Portrait Gallery in London. It also has had stints in various other cities, including Norfolk, Virginia; Tokyo and Osaka, Japan; Brooklyn, New York; and Portland, Oregon.

More About McCartney’s Recent Performances

McCartney played three surprise concerts at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, on February 11, 12, and 14. The shows were Sir Paul’s first of 2025.

The gigs led up to McCartney’s appearance on SNL50: The Anniversary Special, which aired live on February 16. Paul and his longtime solo band closed out the show with an inspired performance of the medley that ends The Beatles’ classic 1969 album Abbey Road. The medley features “Golden Slumbers,” “Carry That Weight,” and “The End.”

McCartney currently has no other confirmed concerts on his 2025 schedule.
