After the 50th anniversary special, the cast looked forward to taking some time off before returning to Studio 8H. But with March here, the show continues with a new episode. That’s right, the wait is over as SNL welcomed back comedian Shane Gillis. While almost a member of the cast in the past, Gillis found himself at the center of controversy for comments he made. But not holding a grudge, this will mark the second time Gillis hosted SNL in a little over a year.

Releasing a promo about tonight’s episode, Gillis walked through the halls of SNL with Ashley Padilla, and shared some nerves about the night. He told Padilla, “I’m just worried everyone’s gonna be hungover still from the 50th.” After Padilla questioned him about his statement, he turned to see Michael Longfellow snoring on a couch.

Fans shared their excitement about the return of SNL, writing, “I love the implication that the cast just lives in the studio and all the hosts just visit like when your friends come over after school.”

‘Saturday Night Live’ Welcomes Tate McRae A Musical Guest

Looking past Gillis, Canadian singer Tate McRae will take the stage as the musical guest for the evening. While excited to perform on SNL, the singer spent the last several months promoting her newest album, So Close to What, which was released on February 21, 2025. With a new album and an SNL performance, McRae is sure to soak in her time at Studio 8H.

Having spent over a decade in the music industry, McRae once discussed how her music was a reflection of where she was at in her life. “My music has gone through so many different phases. I think your music is always a reflection of where you’re at as a person.”

Using her life experience to dictate her music, don’t miss McRae and Gillis take over SNL tonight, airing live at 11:30 p.m. on NBC and available to stream on Peacock.
