Is ‘Saturday Night Live’ New Tonight? Host & Musical Guest (4/19/25)

Looking back at the last couple of weeks, Saturday Night Live offered fans a stellar lineup of hosts and musical guests. There was Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Mikey Madison, Jack Black, Elton John, and even Jon Hamm. With more than enough hilarious moments, SNL welcomed Hamm back for the first time in 15 years. And the actor didn’t disappoint as he introduced several special guests including Scarlett Johansson, Beck Bennett, Kieran Culkin, and Alex Moffat. Although a memorable episode, a new Saturday is here, and here are all the details surrounding tonight’s episode of SNL and if it is new.

While enjoying a new episode of SNL is a great way to end Saturday, sadly, there is no new episode airing tonight. Taking some time away from the studio, SNL will return after the holiday on May 3 with Quinta Brunson and musical guest Benson Boone. The creator behind Abbott Elementary, Brunson visited SNL during season 48. But for Boone, it will mark his debut on the show.

Although SNL decided to give the cast some time off, Saturday night will feature a throwback episode to when Dave Chapelle hosted in January with musical guest GloRilla. Known for discussing hot topics and pushing the boundaries of comedy, Chappelle revealed back in February that producers gave him some rules about what he could talk about.

The Topics ‘Saturday Night Live’ Urged Dave Chappelle Not To Talk About

According to SF Gate, Chappelle entertained a crowd in San Francisco with how the producer tried to censor him. “‘SNL’ producers told him he couldn’t speak about two topics: transgender people and Gaza, a shocking stroke of censorship, given the political nature of the monologue.”

Appearing to follow the rules, Chappelle turned his attention to the current White House administration and the fires that ripped through California. He urged fans, “Do not forget your humanity and please have empathy for displaced people whether they’re in the Palisades or Palestine.”

While not new tonight, don’t miss a throwback Saturday Night Live episode featuring Chappelle and GoRilla, airing at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
