At the heart of American Idol, the show centered around making dreams come true. For Carrie Underwood, she knew the power that came with competing and winning on American Idol. After winning season four, Underwood used the next two decades defining her career within country music. Hoping to watch other singers make their dreams come true, it seemed that American Idol will do more than find the next hit singer as the show will reveal the inductees for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. And to make the night even better, James Taylor, a member of the Rock Hall, will be on hand during the historic moment.

While the contestants continued to prepare for the upcoming shows, the Rock Hall revealed their list of nominees which included Cyndi Lauper, Oasis, Outkast, Phish, The White Stripes, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Mariah Carey, The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Bad Company, Joy Division/New Order, and Mana. With American Idol moving into the live show, the inductees for this year will be revealed during Sunday’s episode on April 27th.

Already knowing what it felt like to join the ranks of the Rock Hall, James Taylor shared his excitement about appearing on the show as a guest mentor. Hoping to share some of his wisdom with the aspiring singers, the Top 14 will take the stage to perform songs associated with singers or groups that made it into the Rock Hall.

‘American Idol’ Celebrating “Iconic Idol Moments” With Special Performances
Adding another unique spin on the competition, American Idol will once again send contestants home. Although a moment of celebration for the inductees, at the end of the show – only 12 will remain.
Given that American Idol took over Sundays and Mondays, the start of the week included a new themed episode with Iconic Idol Moments. Centered around those hit singers who dominated the competition over the years, season 3 winner Fantasia will make her way back to the stage as a guest mentor alongside the Artist-in-residence Jelly Roll.
