More About When You’re Strange

When You’re Strange had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2009. The film was directed by Tom DiCillo and narrated by Johnny Depp.

The movie offers an intimate look at the history of The Doors, utilizing rare archival footage of the group’s four members—singer Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and Densmore.

Depp once commented about When You’re Strange, “As a rock ‘n’ roll documentary, or any kind of documentary for that matter, it simply doesn’t get any better than this.”

Other 60th Anniversary Doors Events and Releases

A variety of other special events and releases have been planned in celebration of The Doors’ 60th anniversary.

Krieger is commemorating the milestone with a series of special monthly shows with his solo band at the famed Sunset Strip venue the Whisky a Go Go. Each concert is showcasing a full performance of a different Doors album. The remining shows in the series, which kicked off in March, are scheduled for May 29, June 28, and July 26.

In addition, a standard Bookstore Edition of the expansive new coffee-table book Night Divides the Day: The Doors Anthology will be released on May 13.
