Prior to tonight’s episode of The Voice, the program shared a sneak peek of one of the episode’s performances. That sneak peek is a video of the John Legend team member, RENZO, singing Hozier’s smash hit “Too Sweet”.

In the clip, judges Kelsea Ballerini, Adam Levine, Michael Bublé, and John Legend score stunned faces. As a matter of fact, following the performance, Legend uttered, “My guy, my favorite part of that performance was the last four seconds.”
“You have the best screaming voice in this competition,” said Legend. “I feel like we haven’t heard enough of that from you. But man, you know I love you.”
This video has certainly bolstered the anticipation for the final round of the playoffs. Though, it has also left the masses curious as to who RENZO is. That being said, here are three quick facts about the John Legend team member, RENZO.
He Was a Top 10 Singer on ‘American Idol’
Before RENZO became a fan-favorite on The Voice, he was one of the front-runners on the program’s rival, American Idol. Yes, he nearly made it to the end in Season 11 of American Idol. Unfortunately, his time on American Idol came to an end after he was eliminated in the Top 10 round.
Though, as of now, RENZO has the opportunity to change that narrative, and according to the clip shared by The Voice, he accomplished just that. However, time will tell, and you can see if RENZO moves on tonight at 8:00 pm EST.
A Teacher by Day and a Musician by Night
In addition to being an independent musician, songwriter, and producer, RENZO also teaches science to elementary school students. Funny enough, his students refer to him by his stage name, as he’s stated that they call him “Professor RENZO”.
Teaching kids is seemingly a passion for RENZO; however, when the day comes to an end, he trades in his whiteboard marker for a guitar and fervently pursues music in his time off. Needless to say, his side-hustle has seemingly taken him to one of the more coveted spots in the American music industry.
RENZOis a Father First
RENZO is not just a teacher and a musician, he is also a father to three daughters. His role as a father is seemingly the most important facet of his life, and given that he unfortunately did not grow up with a father due to gun violence, he stated, “Breaking that generational curse for my daughters and being a family person is so important to me,” per Deseret.
So, even if RENZO falls short of his goal on The Voice, he still has a loving wife and three kids to call family. Specifically, RENZO has a one-year-old, a seven-year-old, and an older daughter who lives with his mother in Chile.
