Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, is one of the organizers of Back to the Beginning. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, she revealed that she removed a band from the show’s lineup. While she shared why the band will no longer be performing during the celebratory event, she didn’t say who she removed.
Sharon Osbourne on Cutting a Band from the Black Sabbath Farewell Event
During her interview with Metal Hammer, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she cut the band from the upcoming concert because she had an argument with their management. “I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath,” Osbourne said. “It was probably the worst way I’ve felt in years. I don’t care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn’t know me. He’s now going around making up bullsh*t lies because I threw his band off the bill,” she revealed.
Osbourne wouldn’t say who she removed from the celebration of Black Sabbath, but she assured the interviewer that one iconic metal band was still on the bill, despite past tension between her and vocalist Bruce Dickinson. “I love Iron Maiden, it’s just the singer because he was so horribly disrespectful,” she said. Osbourne had Dickinson “pelted with cans of baked beans that were open, and cut his sound,” during Ozzfest 2005.
When asked directly if she removed the band from the Back to the Beginning lineup, she said, “Oh God, no. Ozzy only has respect for the guys in Maiden.” She added, “He didn’t even know what Bruce was doing [during Ozzfest]. I never told him, until the night that it happened, when it was the last show, and he just looked at me and goes, ‘You’re terrible.’”
