Stevie Nicks recently took to Instagram to announce the release of her new single, “The Lighthouse.” Both cryptic and ambiguous, all the post featured was Nicks’ silhouette in the lantern room of a lighthouse with crows flying all about.

Furthermore, she left a brief comment on the post, stating, “The Lighthouse. Friday.” The single’s announcement comes as a huge surprise, as Nicks is currently on the road for her 2024 Live in Concert Tour and hasn’t released any music since 2022. But leave it to Nicks to keep pushing forward, and it’s always been known that she’s going to do this thing until the wheels fall off. The new single is just one of the many examples attesting to that fact.
Is Stevie Nicks Releasing a Political Anthem?
Adding to the cryptic nature of the post, there is only one line of lyrics in the post’s recording. They are, I wanna teach you to fight. The lyrics come from a poem Nicks released back in 2022 titled “Get Back.” Which in essence was a politically motivated post urging Americans to vote in the upcoming mid-term elections at the time. Nicks wrote in the post, “At 74 years old, I can honestly say that I am worried about every one of you.”
Regarding Nicks’ political moves, earlier this month she again urged her followers to vote after Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris. Nicks stated in the post, “Your vote in this election may be one of the most important things you ever do.” Between these two posts and the lyrical similarities, it seems Nicks’ new single might be heavily political. This makes sense as America is only 40 days from the election and Nicks’ is known for her political advocacy.
Upcoming Show With Billy Joel
As of recent, Stevie Nicks has had a lot going on. Between headlining BST Hyde Park with Harry Styles and planning to appear on Saturday Night Live next month. You think she’d be ready to throw in the towel. Though, that is not the case, as news has also broken out about an impending performance with her and Billy Joel in Detroit this March.
The concert with Joel and Nicks marks the biggest concert the state of Michigan has seen this century. Performing at Ford Field, Joel already had a good chance of selling out the stadium. But with Nicks now in the mix, it will surely happen. The dynamic duo is set to take the stage on March 29 with tickets going on sale October 4.
Needless to say, Nicks has been incredibly busy, but as stated before, she is going to keep doing this until she physically can’t anymore.
