‘American Idol’ Alum Welcomes First Child at 17 Years Old

While just a teenager, Triston Harper watched his life drastically change when he auditioned for season 22 of American Idol. Following his dream of becoming a singer, Harper not only won over the judges but also fans. Making it through the numerous stages of American Idol, the singer ended up being eliminated in the Top 5. Although Abi Carter walked away the winner of season 22, Harper continued to explore a career in the music industry. But recently, the singer crossed another milestone when he welcomed his first child. 

For Harper and his wife, Paris Reed, their family just got a little bigger when they brought their daughter home. Sharing a post on Facebook, the singer’s mother, Hattie Mae Sullivan, shared the news, writing, “Everybody my Grand Baby has made her Grand Entrance …. weighing a solid 6lbs and 6 ounces. Brenley Lichelle Harper Has now arrived on the scene and she ain’t here to play.”

Sullivan was sure to add that the baby was already showing her personality. “She’s already in boss mode!!!!! Feed me, Change me, Cut that bright light out. Yes ma’am whatever you want   G MA is gonna make it happen!!!!!”

Triston Harper’s Advise To Future ‘American Idol’ Contestants

Getting married back in November 2024, the happy couple wasted no time when it came to growing their family. And even with a little one, Harper remained focused on his career in music. Thrilled about his time on American Idol and the doors it opened for him, he once discussed how he wanted to encourage others to pursue their dreams. “I want people to know that you have to work hard for everything you do. I 100% loved it.” Harper continued, “I mean, it was my life and if you love music, I would 100% go and sign up.”

Not seeing American Idol as the only path to stardom, Harper added, “It don’t matter whether it’s ‘The Voice,’ whether it’s ‘American Idol,’ whether it’s ‘America’s Got Talent,’ whatever. Whatever it is, do it. I mean, don’t be scared. If your dreams don’t scare you, dream bigger.”

While Harper understood the pressure that came with performing on the American Idol stage, he advised future contestants to simply have fun. “That’s what I advise everybody to do. Do it for fun, too. Don’t let them take that away from you.”
