American Songwriter’s Between the Lines Songwriting Camp is entering its sophomore era. After the success of the inaugural event in the Catskill Mountains back in April, Between the Lines will return in October 2025. This time, the camp will take place in Music City, U.S.A.
Taking place from Oct. 24 to 27 at the Virgin Hotels Nashville, Between the Lines will give campers the dream Nashville Music Row experience. With Nashville being home to to artists and songwriters across every genre, whether you write pop, rock, indie, folk, R&B, or country, this camp is for you.
SongWriterCamps founders Pam Sheyne and Richard Harris will lead the event.
Sheyne is a multi-platinum songwriter with over 50 million records sold. She co-wrote Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle” and has had her songs cut by some of music’s biggest stars.
“I didn’t have creative mentors, and I think those are really important, certainly on the craft of songwriting,” she said. “We’re really excited to get stuck in and give some experience and things that we’ve learned along the way.”
Harris, meanwhile, is songwriter, producer, artist, and mentor who’s penned multiple No. 1 Billboard hits.
“We’ve all had very different starts in our careers, but I would’ve love to have had an opportunity like this,” Harris said. “Not only to meet with other collaborators, but to have access to music industry professionals, songwriters, and mentors who have been doing for quite some time and really have the chance to ask a lot of questions and do a deep dive on the craft of songwriting.”
What to Expect from American Songwriter‘s Between the Lines Songwriting Camp
During the camp attendees will take part in co-writing sessions, song feedback circles, masterclasses, and industry interviews and Q&As. Campers will also receive mentorship from top songwriters. Those songwriters, along with other multi-platinum special guests, will be announced soon.
Past campers have only positive things to say about the experience.
“Everyone acts like they’re a family already, which is really nice,” Olivia Brand said. “Nobody’s judgmental. Everyone’s really inclusive. It just feels like an environment where everyone wants to learn and be better.”
Becca Rashid agreed, stating, “It’s been really unexpectedly warm, and it actually has felt like a safe place for me. It’s been really easy to open up to everyone and get creative without any sort of expectation.”
“All of the guests are very, very well seasoned professionals who have been doing it for a very long time,” Christopher Kessenich added. “Just being able to spend a lot of time with them, eat meals with them and pick their brains, feel their genuine support and advice, that’s definitely been the thing that, for me, has meant the most.”
