Art Garfunkel has two sons, 34-year-old Art Jr. and 19-year-old Beau, both of whom he’s collaborated with musically. The 83-year-old singer clearly cherishes his kids, as evidenced in an emotional and poetically worded message he posted on his social media pages on Father’s Day.

“Today, on this day dedicated to fathers, I want to write to you from the quiet depths of my heart,” Garfunkel began his missive. “Words that float gently to you—carried by all the love I hold for you. As a musician, I have learned to open worlds with my voice, to weave dreams, and to make feelings visible. But no stage, no applause, no melody moves me as deeply as the bond between us—those invisible threads that connect us, no matter how many miles lie between.”
Art continued, “You are the gentle notes that make my life an everlasting song, the harmony that embraces my soul. Your love is the whisper in the wind, the warmth in cold nights, the light that guides me when darkness falls.”
Garfunkel then reflected on the close bond everyone in the family shares, included his wife, Kathryn—Art Jr.’s and Beau’s mom.
“Our family, together with your wonderful mother, is like a small orchestra—each voice unique, yet together we create the most beautiful music,” he said. “A web of trust, closeness, and security that carries, holds, and strengthens us.”
Garfunkel concluded, “You both are my most precious gift, the deepest melody in my heart, an eternal refrain full of tenderness and strength. Thank you for letting me be your father—through you I have learned what true love means: quiet, steadfast, infinite. Forever yours, Dad.”
About the Garfunkel’s Recent Album with Son Art Jr.
Garfunkel’s latest album, Father and Son, is a collaboration with Art Jr. on a variety of cover tunes.
The album, which is credited to Garfunkel & Garfunkel, was released in November 2024. It features duet renditions of 12 popular songs from various eras selected by Art and Art Jr. The album includes tunes by The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Cyndi Lauper, Eurythmics, Don McLean, The Everly Brothers, and a few of Garfunkel’s favorite older pop standards. It also features a version of the Paul Simon-penned 1968 Simon & Garfunkel song “Old Friends.”

Also in November 2024, shortly after Father and Son’s release, Garfunkel, his wife, and their sons played a sold-out five-night engagement at Café Carlyle in New York City.
Among the songs Art and Art Jr. performed together during the residency, was a rendition of the 1959 Everly Brothers ballad “Let It Be Me.” A studio version of the tune is featured on Father and Son.
Garfunkel’s most recent performance was a three-song set with Art Jr. in Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 29.
