Beyoncé kicked off her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter Tour late last month. The megastar pulled out all the stops for her stage production. That production included a video that led to a cease-and-desist letter from owners of the Las Vegas Sphere. As a result, she made some changes to her tour visuals.

Fan-shot footage of Beyoncé’s performances hit social media after the opening night of her tour. Some of those clips show a video playing on the big screen in which Bey is a giantess walking through Las Vegas. After walking over some of the most recognizable buildings in the city, she picked up the Sphere and held it like one would a snow globe. Sphere Entertainment Group was not amused.

As a result, Kathleen McCarthy, an attorney representing Sphere Entertainment Group, accused Beyoncé and her team of using manipulated images of the venue without their consent. However, that’s not all. Many fans who attended one of her shows or saw the clips online believed that she was signaling a coming Las Vegas residency at the popular new venue.
SEG’s cease-and-desist letter made it clear that they would take legal action if Beyoncé and Parkwood Entertainment didn’t remove the images of the Sphere from her tour visuals and refrain from using them for any other materials.
Beyoncé Changes Tour Video After Cease-and-Desist
Beyoncé nor her team made a public statement about the letter they received from Sphere Entertainment Group’s legal team. Instead, they quietly changed that section of the stage production. The video above shows a side-by-side comparison of the old and new videos.
In the updated video, the giant Beyoncé walks through Las Vegas before lifting a stadium from the city and looking down on it fondly. In the clip, she’s likely holding the Allegiant Stadium. The massive venue is the home of the Las Vegas Raiders NFL team. Additionally, it will be the site of the final two nights of her tour. She’ll perform in Las Vegas on July 25 and 26.
