Billy Joel’s Ex-Wife Christie Brinkley Reacts to His Brain Disorder Diagnosis

Christie Brinkley is speaking out about her ex-husband’s diagnosis. In a post to Instagram, the supermodel reacted to news that Billy Joel has been diagnosed with a brain disorder. Brinkley and Joel were married from 1985 to 1994, and share a daughter, 39-year-old Alexa.

“The whole Brinkley gang is sending you lots of love and good wishes for a full and speedy recovery,” Brinkley wrote. “I was looking for some cute photos of you and Alexa to send you, when I came across this clip from a recent concert.”

“It made me laugh… but it also reminded me of all the joy you create, and all the sensational sing a longs you’ve lead,” she continued. “You turn an arena of strangers into a living room full of friends as we all sway in unison.”

Additionally, Brinkley noted, “I’m sure I’m speaking for everyone in that room when I say please take good care of yourself. We all want you back in that white hot spotlight. You’re OUR piano man. And we’re always in the mood for your melodies And we all hope you’re feeling alright! We Love You, the kids, me and an arena or two!”

After his divorce from Brinkley, Joel was married to Katie Lee from 2004 to 2009. Next, he wed his current wife, Alexis Roderick, in 2015. The pair have two daughters, Della, 9, and Remy, 7.

Billy Joel’s Brain Disorder Diagnosis

Brinkley’s post came shortly after Joel announced that he’s been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. The brain disorder that causes thinking and reasoning problems, difficulty walking, and loss of bladder control. As such, Joel canceled all of his upcoming performances.

“This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance,” Joel’s social media post read.

Joel is currently undergoing “specific physical therapy,” during which he’s been told not to perform.

The post noted that Joel’s “thankful for the excellent care he is receiving.” It added that the singer “is fully committed to prioritizing his health.”

“He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage,” the post further read.

The message concluded with a quote from Joel: “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding.”
