This is nothing new for the Foo Fighters frontman, though. He often works with Feed the Streets to help put warm food in the bellies of those in need. However, it doesn’t stop there. When the band was on its 2023 Australian tour, Grohl used a day off to volunteer, serving meals American-style barbecue meals to unhoused people in Melbourne.

Dave Grohl Doesn’t Do Charity Work for Show

Dave Grohl doesn’t do these acts of charity to get his name in favorable headlines. They don’t seem to be things that he coordinates through his PR team. In fact, he rarely if ever posts about his volunteer work or tells the public where he’ll be ahead of time. Instead, the charities he partners with share videos of him putting in the work after the fact.

While Grohl rarely talks about his philanthropic works, the reason he gives back so often might be connected to his view on the power of music. “The great thing about music is that it brings everyone together. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what your belief is, your race, your religion,” he said in a 2022 interview. “You can have a chorus of a song that brings 60,000 people—singing in unison—together. There aren’t too many things that can do that in life. It really is that communal energy that humans need so they don’t feel alone. Fortunately, we’ve been able to facilitate those moments with our concerts.”
