With the 2025 Academy Awards kicking off Sunday night, all of Hollywood appeared to come out to celebrate a year of great performances, hit films, and memorable stories. While walking the red carpet and rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, it seemed the best place to watch the 2025 Oscars was with Elton John. For those celebrities who happened to attend John’s annual Oscar viewing party, they received a special treat when the icon welcomed Chappell Roan to the stage to perform “Pink Pony Club.”

Thankfully, a video of John and Roan sharing the stage eventually made its way online. While John sat during a part of the performance, when the chorus hit, he found himself dancing with Roan while wearing a pink cowboy hat. Fans couldn’t get enough of the two performers as comments read, “This is everything. When the hat falls off and Chappell puts it back on and Elton does a little head shimmy shimmy.”

Discussing his own love for Roan, John showered the singer with praise just before she took the stage. “I just freaked out when I heard her. I interviewed her and fell in love with her and the album [Roan’s 2023 LP The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess]. She’s so kind to do this. She’s one of the biggest stars in the world right now. Not only does she speak with her voice on stage, but off it.”

Getting praise from John is a massive achievement for most, and Roan wasn’t about to let the moment slip by as she insisted, “Thank you so much for believing in me. You made it so I could be the artist I could be.”
Outside of offering a slew of performances at the watch party, John used the event to help raise money for John’s AIDS Foundation. Always looking for ways to give back and help those in need, the night appeared a success.
As for Roan, she didn’t stop with just one performance as she also covered songs like “Hot to Go”, “Good Luck, Babe”, and “Red Wine Supernova.”
