Future Cancels Last Two Tour Dates Ahead of Upcoming Album

Future’s “One Big Party” tour saw many of hip-hop’s hottest join him for a stretch of incredible shows. For the tour’s first leg from January 7-27, the Atlanta icon welcomed friends like Jeezy, Kodak Black, Jeezy, Polo G, Est Gee, and more. However, his second leg is now being cut a bit short.

On Thursday (April 6), Future announced via Billboard that the last two shows of his tour are being canceled. The second leg of “One Big Party” was slated to have supporting acts like Don Toliver, G Herbo, Mariah the Scientist, and Dess Dior. Just hours before his Thursday show in Indianapolis, though, Future inexplicably called off the following two dates in Kansas City (April 7) and Minneapolis (April 8).

“It breaks my heart that I will no longer be connecting with my fans in Kansas City and Minneapolis,” he said in a statement. “I look forward to reconnecting with each of you at another time. Thank you for all your love and support through the years. Love Future.”

Currently, Future is in the midst of crafting his upcoming collaborative album with producer Metro Boomin. Slated to release at some point in 2023, Metro Boomin spoke recently about the impending LP’s creation in an interview with Ebro Darden of Apple Music. He explained why songs they made together did not make his recent solo album Heroes vs. Villains so that they could be used on the Future album instead.

“(Future) actually finished most of the album at my studio in LA. That’s my brother, but we’re working on some things. At first, we were going to put a couple of songs with me and him on the album, but we had took them off because I had talked to him,” he said. “I was like, ‘Look, the last time anybody’s really heard a song from me and you was ‘Mask Off.’ So instead of us randomly throwing one or two songs we did on (Heroes vs. Villains), we got to wait and just give them a joint.’”

Additionally in early February, Future tweeted that he was “in album mode.” So perhaps, these canceled tour dates could allow Future more time to prepare a rollout for his joint tape with Metro Boomin, which will be his first full-length project since April 2022.
