While trying to build the perfect punk band, Gel decided to team up with musician Anthony Webster. Throughout the years on the road, the band produced their only album Only Constant back in 2023. During the same time, Gel also released several EPs like Violent Closure and Persona. Although the band continued to grow its fanbase, many were shocked when the group announced they were disbanding. Coming as a surprise to many, apparently, the band’s decision to split happened to Webster’s actions towards his fellow bandmates.

Not wanting rumors to swirl around Gel, the band decided to update fans on why they came to such a decision. According to a post on Instagram, “Gel is no longer a band, and therefore will not be playing any of our currently scheduled upcoming shows. The reason is pretty simple at its core; the former guitar player, Anthony Webster, has committed such heinous acts in trying to forward himself in his musical career that he’s done irreparable damage to the band in the process, and it’s affected us as human beings more than we can even attempt to explain, to the point of being completely unable to do the band anymore.”
Listing a few of the acts he committed against Gel, the band revealed, “He’s stolen tens of thousands of dollars from us, and the best part is that he left it all on record for us to eventually find. He spent it on his own rent, personal food orders, and really whatever else he wanted to…”
Gel Accuses Guitarist Of Posting Nudes Of Fellow Band Members
Having the only access to bank accounts, Webster used the funds however he wanted. But that was just the start and the band added, “He also spent it on a truly unbelievable number of OnlyFans purchases and mysterious CashApp transactions, likely in the same lane.”
It only got worse as Gel revealed the guitarist often put them in danger due to getting into arguments online. And that wasn’t even the worst of it as the band accused Webster of posting nudes of the band. “He posted nude images of band members on Reddit for the world to see. Yup, just casually, for who knows what purpose. Let that one really sink in. He did that all while still in a band with us too, by the way.”
With Gel claiming Webster put them into an “abusive relationship”, the band performed their last show in Tokyo before canceling all future performances, including Coachella. They ended their message, writing, “Thank you so much to the friends we’ve made over the years, and thank you so much to our fans for always being there for us and showing us how much you care. Take care of each other, and love your friends.”
