With a legacy containing hit songs like “Dreams”, “Silver Springs”, and “Gypsy”, Fleetwood Mac not only gained a faithful following but also sold over 120 million albums. And that was just the start of the hit band formed during the 1960s in London. Over the following decades, the accomplishments of Fleetwood Mac helped land the band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band even holds a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And when looking back at the history of Fleetwood Mac, Mick Fleetwood hoped that one day Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham would find common ground.

Throughout the years of Fleetwood Mac, Nicks and Buckingham appeared to fall in love. But that love came with a great deal of tension when recording the hit album Rumours during the 1970s. Although the album received a mountain of high praise, the love between Nicks and Buckingham eventually turned sour.
Speaking with U.S. Weekly, Fleetwood admitted, “I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both.” Remember the times they all spent together, the musician added, “We’ve had such an incredible career.”
While Nicks wasn’t on speaking terms with Buckingham, she remained close to fellow member Christine McVie until her passing back in November 2022. Heartbroken over the loss of her friend, the star declared there was “no path forward” for the band without McVie.
Mick Fleetwood Ready To Hit The Stage Once Again
Agreeing with the statement from Nicks, Fleetwood explained, “With losing Chris, it was beyond not expected. So that was a different version of it. And for me, just Stevie or Lindsay or had it being Chris, they could really function on their own. It’s tough doing that, and you’re banging a drum on your own.”
Still wanting to perform on stage, Fleetwood hoped that 2025 would bring a chance to gain the spotlight once again. “I miss playing as much as we used to. I’m hoping next year, one way or another, some band somewhere will say, come and play with drums or something. So I always love to do whatever I can do working on an album that next year we may tour with it. I don’t know, [but] not Fleetwood Mac.”
